Some more pavements and street lighting could be put in good use.
Also, a bus service within the municipality(or however you spell it) of Paleokastritsa would be super.

Totally agree re the bus service. A shuttle service up and down the resort taking in the back road would be ideal for guests staying in the areas not near the beaches. If it worked in the summer the bus could then be used to take people to Tzavros to connect with th blue buses. Impossible to go anywhere here in winter if relying on the green bus. Definately pavements are needed the whole length of the resort. Also something needs to be done re the "marina" Before yachts could get access to the harbour now with the new marina they seem to be anchoring in the bays. The marina is literally a waste of space. Bring back the old harbour. Noise levels are also a problem in some areas of the resort. Bar owners if you read this you are not in Kavos look at the average age of the holidaymaker now they donot want their eardrums blasted late at night.

Babs,

I agree that the resort needs a LOCAL bus sevvice. The resort is so spread out, to get from one end to the other, to enjoy all the resort has to offer, it needs local transport. How this could be done is not in my domain. The start and end point, to make it viable would also have to link up with the Green Bus Servive. Food for thought for all those who know the resort far better than I.

Please please finish the pavements!! I am not fond of the bit of road between the Akrotiri Beach and the "La grotta Bar" especially that blind corner just after the jewellers/gold shop.

Fell in love with Paleo. 15 yrs ago and have been going there ever since. There have been improvements over the years, but the number of visitors to Paleo. have dropped dramatically. I agree with other members that a local mini bus would be an asset, it would get people around the resort (not everyone wants to hire a car).  I would like to see the bus continue up to Makrades, so people could visit Anglo Kastro and maybe continue to Agios Georgious, people staying there could spend the day in Paleo. and visa versa.
There are lots of wonderful walks in and around Paleo., a local footpath map is needed, withfootpaths well sign posted. Paleo. is a walkers paradise, more people would come if it was marketed as such.
My other concern is the toilets in SOME of the resturants are badly in need of updating (or maybe just kept clean).
Can't wait to return for the sunshine, the warmth of the lovely Greek people and the 'ouzo'

Hi Carole

Welcome to the forum. Some places do have copies of maps with the local footpaths. An excellent map was drawn several years ago by a Paleo local.

Some of the paths are marked by painted arrows or small signs but unfortunately not all of them.

For people wishing to visit Krini, Makrades etc there is a local green bus that goes up the hill. Be at the junction to Lakones at about 2.15pm mon - fri and the bus will take you up the hill. To return it is a case of walking but it is a pleasant walk and all down hill. Staying on the bus to Corfu town gives you a chance to see some villages that the organised bus trips miss out and you will have enough time in town for a coffee before getting the 4pm bus back to resort.

Having worked in a taverna it is amazing how quickly clean toilets can get dirty by the people that use them. Let the staff know if there is a problem with the toilets since if they are busy they don't always have time to check them regularily.

Thanks Artemis for your reply. Where can you get the footpath maps? I was given a local map by 'Olympic holidays' (15 yrs ago) it has some of the footpaths on and over the years I have given a copy to numerous people who found it very useful.
Re: the local bus, if we go out for a walk we are up and out by 9 a.m. (I know we're mad) before it gets too hot - so the 2.15 bus is too late in the day for us. There is a lovely walk from Makrades to Agios Georgios, but having walked up the donkey track  to Makrades, I've only got enough energy for the return journey, an early morning bus would be great - but not the 6.30am one at the junction!

Hi Carole

Unfortunately they are only the 2 buses up the hill the early one and then the one about 2pm. Re the maps I have seen them throughout the resort so am presuming the people displaying the map have copies of them. campsite also has maps I think
